The bus from Shangri-la to Yading Nature Reserve leaves at 8:30am and arrives around 4:00pm.
The scenery along the way is quite spectacular. Shortly after Shangri-la you are in the mountains, and eventually the bus spends a couple of hours driving through a deep, narrow mountain gorge. Emerging from the gorge it enters a high grassland plateau. At the start of November, the snow line was just above.
Many times along the way I wished I was driving because I wanted to stop for photography. There was some great fall color, some rapids on the river, or a grand view of a snowy peak.
