
The Merlion Fountain is an iconic sight on the Marina Esplanade of Singapore. A Merlion is half lion, and half fish.
For the Singapore Bienniale 2011, one of the artworks is a hotel room constructed around the large Merlion sculpture. It is a functioning hotel room, and one guest is permitted to spend the night in the room, each day. During daytime, tourists are allowed inside, in small groups, for a short time.
