Shanghai Museum is another museum about ancient China history. They have a very impressive collection, though, and the museum building itself is very nice. I spent the morning and half of the afternoon browsing through the exhibits.
One of my favorite things to see is the Chinese scroll landscape paintings, like the one above.
I like how the artists use the long vertical format to “stack” elements from the foreground, middle, and background, rather than laying them out in a standard perspective format. I keep trying to think of ways to achieve this effect with photography.
I went to see the Shanghai Art Museum, to see some modern art, but it is closed until Nov 15 while they change exhibits. I will be gone by then.
